I would like to know what hummane options there are if I REFUSE to declaw my kitten.
Answers:Getting a scratch post.
Trimming the nails.
Applying SoftPaws to the claws. They're vinyl caps that you glue on to cover the claws.
keep them cut, they do have guards but they can easily fall off
You should go to a pet store and ask for claw caps or claw covers. They come in different sizes so they'll ft a little kitty like yours ;]
Or try looking for them on ebay.
There are other options like putting rubber caps over the claws and you can get them at Petco, PetSmart. But the only down fall is the caps have to be replaced every 6 months.
you can clip there nails without hurting them, i wouldnt reccomend declawing, to me its about the same as if someone cut the tips of your fingers off , would it be ok for me to remove your fingers? just to the first nuckle of course.heh yeah id clip the nails once a week and try to teach the cat proper behaviours so as to avoid my furniture from being clawed. ive owned cats and ive never had a problem with it.
Well, I clip my kitties nails because I refused to declaw him too. Plus, I got him a scratching post at very young age and he has never scrathed any of my furniture, just the couple of posts I have.
they are called softpaws you glue them onto their nails and as their nails grow they fall off and you have to replace them
You can glue small plastic caps to it's toe nails. I have posted a link in the source listing below. This would be better than putting poor little kitty through that operation.
