cats at 8 weeks, usually have pin worms or thread worms as we lay people call them. and also round worms. these have to be gotten rid of by a vet. the symtoms in a bad situation are loss of weight. acting hypo. etc. most all cats have worms at the beginning of life.

Usually when kittens are born they all ready have worms. There bellies are swollen, and the stool has white long thin, squirming worms in it. Usually you won't see them right away. You need to get some medicine from the vet for your kitten(s). When the kittens eat the body doesn't not absorb the vitamins and minerals they need the worms take it all. Depending on the kind of worms and the extent of the infestation the cat may be skinny, pot-bellied, or have runny diarrhea. If it has tape worms, you'll actually see segments of the worms in their stool (like little moving white bits of rice).

Take a sample of the stool to your vet so he can see what kinds of worms you're dealing with, and he can prescribe medication to eradicate the parasites.
