i got my cat 3 years ago and anoher 2 i am scared what kind of dog to get, i dont want anything to happem to my cats

Cats tend to tolerate puppies more than adult dogs because they know they're just helpless babies. That being said, the puppy won't know what the cats are capable of, and may try a bit too hard to "play" with the cats. In this case, a cat can become quite nasty and do some damage to poor little puppy.

They say any dog that's been raised with cats will be fine with them. This isn't always true. I've heard of dogs being raised with cats from the time they were born, only to turn around and kill a cat as an adult. And the opposite can also be true. Some dogs who have never even seen a cat know to keep their distance as soon as they hear the hiss and see the claws. It just depends on the dog.

If you want to get an adult dog, go to any shelter. They do temperment testing on all animals to ensure their compatibility with other dogs, cats, and kids. If a dog shows even the slightest curiosity about cats, they recommend a no-cat home.

Whichever decision you make, good luck! We're planning on getting a dog soon, and we're anxiously awaiting that good old transitional period where our cat has to get used to the dog. We have two cats right now, but are rehoming the female because she's not good with dogs..we were told she was, but this isn't the case.
