whats peoples problem with outside pets2007-11-25 12:29:05

i have a dog and a cat both outside animals My cat stays in a sleeps but i put him outside my dog stays outside all day and sleeps inside!this dont make people bad pet owners if anything keeping an animal inside 24/7 is wrong

so why is it wrong or make you a bad pet owner

i dont think it makes you a bad pet owner, i have a dog and 2 cats they stay inside and the dog goes out when she wants. my cats stay in because there are idiots who will hit them with there cars around here.

Not bad owners. Pets live longer and healthier lives if they stay inside. So long as they get regular exercise it is not cruel to keep them in. Cats who go out side on average only live a few years. (I used to have nothing but indoor/outdoor cats and I never had one live past 10) but an indoor cat can live to be 18-20 years old.

It's not really wrong but I think it is harder on the animals. Believe it or not dogs and cats are very social. You are their pack/pride for cats! They want to be with you too. If he is isolated from you it makes him sad and is not how it would be in nature. As for cats the average life span of an outdoor cat is 5 years the average life span of an indoor cat is 18 years. It's better for cat's to be indoors.

its not bad to let your pet out during the day and stuff, but it is bad when it is 10 degrees outside and your short hair Chihuahua is outside in three feet of snow. There are certain restrictions that are the problem. My dogs love to be outside, but they want in at bed time.
