If you have someone that is brave enough to hold him, you can do it yourself. My sister and I have neutered plenty of cats over the years. All you need is a clean new razor blade or a sterilized sharp knife. We usually spray it with purple oil spray when we are done to keep the flies off. We have never had any problems with the cat and the cats have all beef fine afterward. We have probably done 15 to 20 over the years. Of course we also castrate bull calves the same way.

first of all you get a male cat neutered, females get spayed. you can contact your local spca and they can do it at a reduced rate. though they won't do the pre anestesia testing to make sure that your cat is healthy enough to go through the anesthesia and surgery.
