when she had fleas , I used HARTZ treatment ( which they still sell over the counter) it almost killed her. Later I took her to the vet and bombed my house. Anyhow, knowing the store sold me a toxic medicine, I don't want to buy another med that is fatal.

I have a Persian/Siamese mix cat. She has real long hair,and so often got hairballs.So I changed her cat food.I changed it to MeowMix-hairball control,then to Purina-indoor formula to prevent hairballs,and then finally changed it to Royal Canin-indoor Intense Hairball.It's for cats from 12 months to 10 years of age.It also is for dental hygiene.That cat food is the best thing that I have ever given her, as far as cat food.It also builds the immune system.I have seen a very big difference in her.She is more energetic,0 hairballs,but still one thing has not changed,how spoiled she is.lol.But Royal Canin is the best,and it doesn't have liver in it.So if your cat cannot have liver,then it will not her.

It is an expensive cat food(I paid $12.00 for a 3 lb bag) but it's worth it. My cat is worth it.

You can give your cat some butter to lick and that will help the hairballs pass, the cat likes it and it's much cheaper than the OTC remedies out there.

Instead of medicine, feed cat dry food which is better for them and once a week mix in 1 teaspoon of regular cooking oil, this help's their coat, which help's eliminating hairballs. Hope this help's.

I have never bought (Hairball Meds) my vet told me to just dab a small amount of vaseline on the tip of his or her nose, or place it on his or her paw, they have no choice but to lick it off and it's safe. I have four indoor cats and I give it to them once a week, without any problems, but always check with your vet your pet may be allergic to petroleum jelly and it's less inexpensive.
