my persian kitten is turning 4 months in about a week from now.. i got her from a breeder when she was 3 months old. the breeder said that she is feeding her with IAMS and that i shouldnt alter her cat food for she may not get used to it or even so, have diarrhea from it. They say that dry and wet cat food is just the same. i wanted to give her et cat food for treat but im afraid she mioght have the runs since she hasnt eaten wet cat food, not a single time. Whiskas has both wet and dry varieties, whereas IAMs, in my area doesnt have the wet variety, only the fry one. If my kitten is so used to IAMS and i try giving her whiskas' wet variety cat food, will there be any problems? even if she only eats dry food now, she constantly drinks water which is why i dont worry that much about dehydration..

Don't feed Whiskas. Stick with Iams, it is a perfectly good food. I have four cats and three dogs and all eat Iams brand, and they literally glow with health.

I wouldn't worry about giving your kitten any canned food. She will be just fine on her Iams kitten dry food. Canned food is, after all, mostly water. That can be good in some circumstances, but with a healthy kitten who drinks plenty of water there is no need for canned food. Plus, some cats enjoy the wet food so much that they become reluctant to eat their dry food.

If you want to give a treat, there's nothing wrong with the occasional kitty treat such as Pounce or other snacks like that. Or, a teeny bit of cheese or chicken, something like that, would be fine. Just be sure to keep treats to a minimum.
