who agrees and why
i asked a question yesterday about getting a pink collar for my kitten i got loads of abuse. fair point i now no i shouldnt put a collar on my cat but people said i was trying to dress my cat up like a fashion assessory which i wasn't tryin to do. but why is it people get really funny when you buy fashionable assessories for animals and they say that your tryin to turn them into fashion assessories? i mean i did not realise the dangers of collars and so have decided against it but i have brought a cut bed for my kitten and cute little bits that i choose because i liked them. is that wrong?

Collars used to be quite dangerous for cats as they didn't 'yield' when caught on branches etc, but the ones you can buy nowadays have an extra elastic bitty for exactly that scenario so they're very safe.
The cat that owns me just now has a collar. My vet advised me that it was perfectly safe. This is the first time I've ever lived in a town, and i got him a collar as I would like to be informed if he gets killed or has an accident. Also, the collar he has just now is black and has little fluorescent paw prints on it that glow in the dark, which i think is safer for him.
My advice to you is to get any colour of collar that you like. Of course you are going to choose something that you like, but it's not as though you are putting bracelets and jackety things on her.it's a practical item that you want to be a little prettier.
