why do people have cats named wolf or some other dog like name.

its not the name themselves, but the meaning. think of it, when you think of wolf what do you think of? i think of mystery, strength, and loyalty. now wouldnt you find that in a cat?

My cats name is Charlie, and he is obviously not a person. I just liked the name. I guess I wouldn't get my panties all up in a bunch over something so petty.

My husband named our male kitten "Hunter", but he should have been named Shamu, because he's black and white, huge and lazy, but occasionally makes incredibly powerful jumps. "Hunter" has no interest in hunting, though his sister does.

Sometimes people do that because they are just not really 'cat' people. They think it's cute to call Rover, & their cat strolls up. But the person who said you shd. look @ the meaning of the name said it best. Some people are just free spirits, & don't think of names as catagories, like cat or dog, male or female. I had a Newfie named Bear, because he was a gentle giant, and bear-like in appearance. That was before "Bear" became the in name for dogs. I wouldn't name one that now for any reason!

Why not? Naming your cat is a very personal, subjective thing. I would never consider it within my province to be critical of what people name their cats.
