You might have decided he's a housecat, but he obviously doesn't agree with you.
He's not been neutered has he? He wants to go out and reproduce.
He needs to be neutered if you want him to remain a house cat. Until you neuter him he is not a house cat, he is a tom cat.
Also, unneutered male cats will start "spraying" your home to mark territory. That really smells bad and is impossible to get out.

My Charly does the same sits there crying until i let him out.
Has he always done that? My cat started acting weird like that.as well as peeing all over the place.because he had a urinary tract infection. After the infection was cleared up, he was fine.
Otherwise, may he just be hungry or wanting some attention?
Because he's not big enough to reach the door handle by himself. he probably wants to go out and explore things, like most cats do. He's probably bored. :-/
