Answers:This is usually a sign of diabetes or a thyroid problem.. take cat to vets right away!
Maybe she has diabetes. Better go to the vet.
I just took my moms cat that is almost 2 and he is 11 pounds and drinks sooooo much more water that my 4 year old cat.
Like people, some cats can develop diabetes, one of the first signs of which is excessive thirst. Also like people, diabetes is manageable in cats (with a little help & love from you). Take her to the vet & get her checked out.
its good if your cat drinks alot of water most cats dont drink alot of water and uses the wet food intake as a water substitute then they get tract infections so be glad
why, he's a thirsty kitty!
The more he drinks, the more he will pee, of course and he may be trying to flush out a urinary tract infection. Cats have lousy luck with urinary tract health.
That seems very young for diabetes or hyperthyroidism or kidney problems. It's great she likes to drink a lot of water. You should give your cats and any other animals filtered water. I use a Brita water filter to fill my cats bowls and mix with their food.
This is often a sign of diabetes. I've had 2 cats with diabetes and I gave them insulin shots twice, everyday for several years. It is very controllable but you need to see an vet and have your cat tested.
Please call the vet, she may have uti, diabetes or thryoid problems.
It's worth having her checked at the vet to make sure there is no problem. Different cats do drink differently. If her diet is predominately dry food, all that drinking is a good thing. I have one cat who eats mostly wet food and does not drink a lot. The other cat will only eat small amounts of wet food and prefers dry food. She drinks more frequently. She also seems to like to play with water more. If I'm taking a bath, she'll dip her paw in the water.
As a former vet tech, I suggest taking your cat to the vet right away for some tests and bloodwork. It is quite possible that your cat has a thyroid problem or is a diabetic. they also need to check a urine sample for a urinary tract infection - which could be all it is.
