why does my cat pat my face2007-11-25 12:32:13

my cat pats my face with her paws wen i am asleep until i wake up once she successfully wakes me up n ive acknowledged she is there she makes a little noise purrs n goes back to sleep. she does this couple times a night?

Ever since adopting our two kittens in March, I've had plenty of broken sleep nights (good practice for a real child!)

One of my kittens, Lulu, will also prod my face with her face, purring loudly and sticking her whiskers in my ears (annoying!) Once I am awake she curls up in my arm, purrs, purrs and goes to sleep!

It is just something that you cat enjoys doing, so I guess you just have to get used to this

It's just one of those strange things cats do. They like attention, and this is their way of making you give it.

My cat does it too. If she jumps up on the sofa and I ignore her she will pat me on the arm or the face. I think she is just wanting your attention.lol

Since you have a female cat, she may think of you as her kitten. She probably wants to know that you're okay, breathing problems or not. She loves you. :)

That is so CUTE! I wish my cat would do that! Instead, she just climbs on my chest and settles her 10 lbs on top of me when I'm asleep. And purr. And purr. And purr some more. And let me tell you, her purr is like a small motorboat. No joke.
