why does my cat pee down the plug hole in my bath who taught him this should it be allowed2007-11-25 12:32:14

i think it is quite amazing personally. better than weeing on the carpet

By all means allow it!! It beats it peeing on the floor and it beats buying kitty litter. Lucky.

Cats have a fascination with water and mine love to jump in the bath when empty. Encourage him its cheaper than litter, smells better and is easy to clean, cool.

i think that's cool my cat does that i took it to the vet and she said it was a Territorial thing. i don't mind its really easy to clean

wow ure cat is so housetrained,..do u let ure cat outside ? if not maybe it found this as a place to use as its toilet, just as long as it dosent poo poo down there,..other wise it would be a pretty messy situation

Very smart cat, they know the bathroom is used for toilet purposes, and obviously can't use a toilet and better than the floor.

It's probably something it learned on it's own. Unless you haven't had it it's whole life. why shouldn't it be allowed? That's a silly question.

Some ppl teach their cats to go in the toilet. Although that's harder. That definitely saves on litter.

Ah! Ah! I agree with you. We used to have a cat and in the winter she often stayed in the house at night. If she needed to go out in the morning, she would scratch at the bedroom door until she woke us and we let her out. If, however, she couldn't wake us, she would also jump into the bath to have a pee! We certainly never taught her, but it may be because she knew that water goes into the bath, so seemed like the best thing to do!! Certainly it's allowed; as you say, better than the carpet. I used to put a good dose of Domestos around the bath afterwards though!

is it a male cat? do u pee when standing in your bath taking a shower? mayb e it can smell your pee pee and is peeing over it but nonetheless this is something fantastic. i wonder if i can teach my dog to do that

I would get him to a vet he is probably trying to tell you he has a urinary tract infection.

Cats are much more intelligent than we give them credit for. I had one that did that, too. I think if he can't go outside, you should encourage it!

that is amazing indeed. mine likes to jump in the bath tub and have a drink although he does have enough water which is located conveniently right next to his food.

SMART CAT!! I had a cat that used to do this once in a while. As long as he didn't do anything else , it was great.

what a clever cat. One of mine will occasionally do this. It should be allowed as he knows that you go in the bathroom and is only copying you if he cannot get to his litter tray. Very clever cat indeed. You should be proud of him.

Cats are very clean animals. There are two possible reasons. 1. He saw you using the toilet and found a similarity between it and the plug hole; 2. He noticed water draining through the hole and figured it out. I have three cats, so I'm not joking one bit.

I think its just a sign of a clean cat. My cat if unable to wake me during the night will do the same thing and always has. I have to say id much prefer this to using the floor.

I had a cat that did the same thing in the shower stall, so we put newpaper down and it did it on the paper. It was easier to clean the shower than the potty box. Cheaper to. I bought this plastic type tray that fit over the toilet put the paper in there and he would sit on the tray and go. I worked my way down to using some t'paper so all I had to do was flush it. This same cat use to only drink from the water faucet not from his water dish and he took the food from his food dish with his paw and ate from that.
