why dont cats like to be pet on their belly
why dont cats like to be pet on their belly2007-11-25 12:32:31Answers:
I have two cats, both males. One loves to have his belly scratched, the other one doesn't.
Just depends on the cat's personality
it's strange, but some do!
Hi there.some cats do and some cats don't. It's like humans where some are not comfortable to be hugged and touched and others thrive on it. Personal preference.
to a cat, his belly is his most vunerable area, the area another cat will attack in a fight, a cat has to really trust you and feel comfortable with you in order to want his belly touched. when a cat rolls over and WANTS his belly petted, it means he really trusts and feels comfortable with you..
my cat likes it but only at the times she wants. and only by the people she trust.
it depends..if they trust you.their organs are right there and that spot is sencetive *spell check
Someone told me it's because that is where they are most vulnerable. Because they can't really defend themselves. I don't know, but there are some cats that do like it.maybe they're really trusting.
some do but mine just likes playing with your hand. SO they bite and scrach
it's a very sensitive area. also a very vulnerable area too. if a cat exposes his/her belly to you it means that he/she trusts you. My cats love to have their belly's rubbed, we have been doing that since we got them. though my best friend's cats hate having their belly's rubbed. it is their personal preference and also if you have desencitized them to enjoy a belly rub. but make sure you are gentle about it. one bad belly rub and the cat won't like you anymore, just ask my father that. he didn't realize that you can't rub a cat's belly like you do a dogs belly and my one cat hates him now and will hiss and growl at my father anytime he comes near him.
Because it makes them vulnerable.
My Phoebe loves her belly rubbed, but only by me. She won't let anyone else come near her belly. I think it is a trust thing. Also, I think she sees me as her mom and is OK with me rubbing her belly.
It's a trust issue. Their belly is their most vulnerable spot, so lots of cats don't like to be pet on their belly, especially if they don't know you that well or don't trust you. Both of my cats love to have their tummies rubbed, but only if it's "just us". Otherwise they're too nervous about being vulnerable.
When domestic cats were wild, they were always on red alert against predators. Their bellies are soft and vulnerable so in the wild, they were always protecting this body part. If this area gets torn, the cat will likely die or bleed to death. So most cats don't like it.
