why have my cats started weeing in the house2007-11-25 12:32:37

i have 2 male siamese cats 2 years old, in the last 6 months they have started weeing inside my house, they have a litterbox but they dont use it all the time..i have noticed the smell but dont know where exactly they do it.but i have caught them several times doing this..what can i do to stop it please?

You should have two litterboxes and keep them clean by scooping every day and thoroughly clean once a week.

If they are not neutered, they could be spraying. If they are neutered and they are large males they could have a urinary tract infection.

Has anything in their lives changed recently? A new house, new boyfriend, new baby, new carpet? Cats are creatures of habit and when that habit changes they tend not to use the box.

Get a black light and search your home, the light will reveal their urine stains. Get Nature's Miracle, follow the directions, to clean and deodorize the stains. Put a litterbox in the areas they have soiled and keep them very clean.

Start by having the cats examined by a vet to rule out any health problems.

they are marking their territory try separating then putting them back to gather it may also be time for females to be in heat so the are trying to get the girls

As with the above answer, neutering your cats is an important factor, but even if neutered, the still may spray. What they are doing is territorrial, all cats, and most other animals do. Male cats mark their territory by spraying. Are the two cats in conflict, or is there another male cat in the neighborhood that they don't get along with? This also applies with other animals as well, they do this to re-state what is theirs. If you could eliminate the source of what bothers them, then they will stop, for the pee smell I recomend "Nature's Miracle" for pet ordors and stains.

You can use a black light. Cat urine will light up very bright with black light.
