will she be ok if left in a cattery for 6 weeks
i am going away for 6 weeks and do not trust anyone enough to leave my 6 month old kitten with. I have the option of leaving her in a cattery for 6 weeks but am worried abt her. how will she react and if she will be different when i get her back. will she be ok there for so long and will she change on her return because of it?
Answers:If you mean a cattery as in a place where cats are bred for profit, I would run far far away! Your best resource would be your vet. Ask them to reccomend a boarding facility and check the phone book for several options. If they won't let you go back and see the kennels right when you ask, leave and don't go back. Don't just leave her alone in your house with food and water. What if she gets sick, runs out of food/water, or your AC or heater breaks? She will probably get a little depressed and there will be an adjustment period after both leaving her and picking her up, but if she has alot of toys and attention (and most kittens get alot in kennels) she should bounce back pretty quickly.
i don't know about leaving her there of 6 wks, sounds like a long time.i'll watch her for ya.LOL
idd try to find someone to watch her yea she will probly be ok but it would be better for her to be with someone im going to be pet sitting my moms cats for 4 weeks
i wouldn't recommend leaving her alone for such a long amount of time but if you have to make sure you leave a large amount of food and water for her and make sure her litter box is large enough, but what i would recommend doing is having a friend come by every two or three days because if you leave still water there for to long it could get stagnant and make her sick. you also have to think about if she spills her water bowl she wouldn't have water for over a month. are you sure you cant take her with you?
I am a former pet-sitter with Critter Care - a pet sitting service located in almost every state. These were the types of accounts I thrived on.someone who didn't trust a stranger watching their baby, then coming home to a very happy, relaxed animal. I can't begin to tell you how often this occurred in the Bay Area of California, my area was Santa Clara/San Jose/ Milpitas. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I think you may want to consider a pet sitting service, even if it's not Critter Care. =) One thing, make sure the business is repitable and that the caregiver is bonded and insured. In case you would like to check out my former part-time..kind of full-time employer, here you go: www.crittercare.com
That sounds like the safest option for you. It will be hard on her and she will miss you and your home. It may take a while till she re-adjusts when you return and sometimes that's the way things have to be.
She will be safe and her basic needs will be taken care of.
