You can get it to work if you don't force the cat. She will learn that he is not a threat to her in time. If he does try to get her, she will escape and hide. Also, at 4 weeks she may not do anything. How did you get a 4 week old kitten? Momma must have left or died. I forgot she was that young. Keep her in your arms and let the GS sniff and find out what she is and as young as she is they will probably be OK.

Give the dog a treat and much attention when it's in the room with the cat, so it associates good things with being in company with the cat. This was the advice we got when our 4 year old dog initially showed aggression and tried to eat a stray cat we adopted - after two days of this treatment, they tolerated one another and are now the best of friends!
