American Eskimo Puppy

American Eskimo Puppy2007-11-25 2:58:06

I bought an American Eskimo from a petstore two months ago. At the beginning the dog was a little active but now he is impossible. He will not touch his toys but then he comes and bites everybody's hands and he is damaging everything around the house. I don't know what to do because I have never seen a dog being so aggressive.

Where should I take him.I love him to death and I need to know what to do to make him more peaceful.

Answers:

Obedience school.whatever you do dont get rid of him because dogs are a life long commitment that you take on when you buy them.

take him do a dog training place
Oh, well this is going to be a while before that peaceful time starts! It's not really aggression, it's play time to him. I have a 12 yr old American Eskimo, and she was a terror until she was almost 3 years old! I utilized crate training with her until she could be trusted not to chew up the sofa. I'll be back with a link about biting control.

Okay, here is a link to another question about biting.

Basically, when they are pups, American Eskimos have TONS of energy and will literally bounce off the walls! By the time mine was 3 yrs old, the urge to chew constantly passed-- My vet told me, when my AED was a young adult and still being destructive, that they will still chew after adult teeth come in as the teeth are still shifting within the jaw into place. Once mine reached 3 yrs old, the teeth settled into place, and got past the chewing need, she calmed down incredibly and was much more mellow.
