Can I use horse ivermectin for my dog2007-11-25 2:59:41

I'm really going to need a good source for this one.

What are you attempting to treat? Ivermectin is used in heartworm medication and I use swine ivermectin solution to keep my dogs heartworm free. It's injected into the swine but my dogs take it orally. It's a 1.97% solution and the dosage for a dog is .2cc per 10 pounds of body weight. That is point two. I goofed and gave my dog 2cc per 10 pounds and she felt pretty bad for a week. I felt awful. She does not have heartworms though. None of my dogs do. I have 5.

Many breeds of dogs are intolerant of Ivermectin, so it would be impossible to tell on line.If you want to email me with more details, I can be of more help..

Yes you can, but it has to be diluted. Please do not take this as my recomending it, only stating you can. I have a boxer mix who needed it for a while to clear up some skin problems. The vet put him on it, and I had to take him back in every 2 weeks to make sure it was working and not having any adverse effects. Talk to a vet, they will tell you the concentration and if you should actually do it. You can help your dog a lot if he needs it, but can do a lot of damage if you are not careful and consult a vet.
