Can pit bull puppies have certification papers If so, How do i go about getting them2007-11-25 3:00:06

I have a litter of 9 pitbull puppies just born. The mother doesn't have papers and niether does the father. I would like to have papers for them if possible but I don't know how do I go about getting them?

WHY?..do you breed unregistered dogs when rescues and shelters are overflowing and pits are being put to sleep in record numbers?we need to concentrate on saving this wonderful breed from extinction instead of bringing more pupies into the world that will need homes or end up being used for illegal and cruel purposes.PLEASE have your dogs spayed and neutered! no you can not register these pups with any "real" organization in order to show them(if they are even up to the breed standard)

It is only possible if they come from generations of parents with papers. That's the point of the papers. So you can track the dogs lineage.

If the parents are not registered, then no legitimate registry will register them. There are several sham "registries" which will give you a piece of paper in exchange for money, but the paper doesn't mean anything.

Pits are not a recognized breed of the AKC. I am not sure if they are by other clubs. What I do know is that if the sire and dam are unregistered, then the litter cannot be registered. I may be wrong about this as far as other clubs are concerned, but it does hold true for the AKC.

There are ways of getting papers for the dogs but you would have to wait until the dog is 6 months old. NKC or CKC will register dogs all you have to do is send in the money and pictures and get a vet to sign that it is a pure bred and they will register the dogs for you. I think the American pit bull register will do the same thing although I don't know.

pitbull are NOT AKC they are ukc and adba and few low end spin off companies.if you didnt have papers on them you should not have breed them but if you can get papers from the low end backyard breeders you got them from and then you could reg.your litter but i will bet there isnt any papers on the grandparents either so the answer is no and stop making poor breed dogs

We reg all out dogs thru The American Pit Bull Registry. Here is the web site:

You will need to take pictures of the mom and dad. Both front and side view and fill out the paper work and send it all in with there fee. Once that is done and you will get cert for both of them the litter can be reg. Some of it you can do online like the pictures and the payment, but last dog we did we had to mail in the papers. Doesn't take to long. Good Luck!
