Can you put ice on a dogs swollen eye2007-11-25 2:59:50
My big dog and little dog got into it last night. And the little dog's eye is swollen this morning. I checked it out and it is not infected just swollen shut like he got in a fight. What can I do to make the swelling go down?
Answers:You can wrap ice in a damp washcloth and apply it, so that the ice is well covered and doesn't get the eyeball too cold..
try cold wash cloth, not ice directly
Try the ice if the dog will let you. Maybe think about calling a vet.
Of course, but good luck getting him to sit still for it.
Well you can try. but put it in something so it don't burn.
ya , but he will most likely eat them, & like it
You should take him to the vet because his eye may be scratched and untreated could lead to blindness. To answer your question, do not ice directly instead use a barrier like a paper towel or cloth.
Yes you can apply ice to a dog but I would take your little dog into the vet to ensure there is no tissue damage. There may be something wrong that your untrained eye(s) cannot see.
I guess you could but the dog not going to stay around long enough for you to do this.
If your dogs eye is swollen shut, I would get it checked out. The eye could have been scratched by a tooth or a nail. Its not like they throw punches.
VET GO NOW
wrap the ice in a towel. if the dog will let you hold the ice on it then it is fine. but if not, take the dog to the vet
Are you a vet yourself so you know that there's no damage to your dogs eye? I'm guessing not.. so take your poor dog to the vet so he gets any treatment that he might need.
