There is this little dog wondering around where I work.

He's or her has been here over a week now. I want

to try to catch it so maybe I can fine its owner, but she/he won't let me near it. Any sugestions? I leave water and food out for it.

get in touch with your local dog warden thats what their trained to do. if not youve got to gain its trust which can take days. your best bet is to tell your dog warden. it cant be doing this poor dog any good roaming 24/7. your dog warden can scan to see if there is a chip have it checked by a vet and will also have a list of missing dogs.

This could take a bit of time and patience as this dog obviously isn't comfortable with strangers. You might try a more tempting food, like cooked hot dogs or chicken to get the dog in closer and to trust you.

You also may be able to get a little help from your local shelter. They may be willing to get a "trap" for you to put out in order to catch the little dog.

This is a long shot, but try driving up and opening your car door. I've caught strays that way before if they like riding in the car.

You can get rather large Have-A-Heart Traps (fit full size dogs). This will be youre best bet. I highly doubt this dog will ever let you near it, at least any time soon. Check with local shelters alot of times they have loners or rentals you can use just for this purpose

put food in an all wire crate, a roomy one for big dogs (even if the dog ur catching is a small dog) when it comes in close the dor to it. also you canprop the door open with a stick (the stick having a string attached to it) and pull the string while the dog is eating. latch the door quickly. take it home, feed it untill it loves you and go from there.

You should try and get it used to you by holding out a treat and throwing it up to the dog and get another treat and make it come closer and then throw the treat closer and closer. And yes you should leave food out for it so maybe it can like you. WEll I hope you catch it.

Get what is called a live animal trap and set some food in it, all the way to the back of the trap. Check it regularly thorughout the day or place it where you can see it from your office. Once the dog goes into it to eat the food, boom! Trap closes and WALA the dog is caught. You may be able to get one from your local shelter but if not, they are not all that expensive (about 15-30 dollars). Since it already is coming for the free buffet you are setting out for it, it should be relatively easy to catch the little one. Set up the trap right in the same area and make sure the food is set ALL THE WAY TO THE VERY BACK OF THE CAGE so the dog will have to go all the way in to get it. call your local animal shelter and ask for a catch pole it is a pole that is long with a nush on the end of it. It does not hurt them that way you can get him in a crate easyer.
