Chihuahua ate choco chip cookies2007-11-25 2:59:52

My 4.5 lb chihuahua just accidently ate two medium sized chocolate chip cookies. I heard that chocolates are deathly to dogs and I am worried sick right now. She seems completely fine but I have no idea what I should do. It's 3:30 am -- so I don't even know if any doctor is open. What should I do??!

I am sure she will be fine. It takes a lot of chocolate to make a dog sick. It is the caffeine in the chocolate that is bad for dogs.

to be blunt, shell just poop it out.maybe throw up. my toy poodle did the same thing. cept half a box while i wasnt home n shes fine now.

It is only deadly to SOME dogs. Sometimes they can eat it and be okay, and another time it will kill them.

Keep an eye on him!

My Doberman Pinscher puppy ate 2 3lb chocolate garfield heads once. They were wrapped under the Christmas tree and she ATE both while we went to the store.

She didn't even break wind. It didn't do a thing to her.

i wouldn't be too worried my chihuahua/ yorkie mix got into some easter candy and she was fine. she threw up once or twice but she didn't die and she is very small.

She'll be fine.if every dog that ever ate chocolate died.trust me, kids will feed their dogs chocolate until the cows come home.always have, always will..

if she did eat enough to harm herself, she's not just going to keel over and die. she will have symptoms such as difficulty breathing or throwing up, and you'll have time to get her to a vet. keep an eye on her. if you do need to take her to the vet, lots of vets who aren't open late hours have a recording on their answering machine that gives the name/number of a 24-hour emergency vet. hope it turns out okay!

Don`t panic, only dogs with allergies to chocolate have bad reactions, not all dogs are affected by this problem, If ur dog seems fine, chances are it will be ok, just be more careful as far as chocolate is concerned. Watch for any unusual symptoms,if occur, immediately take ur dog to ur vet. My sisters poodle ate a large amt. of chocolate cake left on a coffee table, nothing bad happened to her. Thank goodness. As a general rule, you shouldnt feed chocolate to dogs. Some have instant reactions and others will be fine. But even those who show no reactions the first. may the second, third, .. or never.
