Chihuaua with an attitude

Chihuaua with an attitude2007-11-25 2:59:55

My dog always is at our side when we sit or when we go to bed, she is snuggled deep under the covers, but when we try to pet her she either jumps and grabs a toy or she snarls like she doesn't want to be petted. Why? Most of the time though she is sweet and affectionate if that is HER mood.

Answers:

Sounds like my dog. He is a chihuahua/rat terrier mix with all of the chihuahua attitude. I can't sit on tne couch for a minute without him getting in my lap, he sleeps in our bed, under the covers but the minute that I shift or try to move him, he's all attitude and starts growling at me. I've read article about chihuahuas and I guess that's just one of their character traits. I'm not sure if there is anything that can be done.

the chihuaua breed of dogs are somewhat aggressive. the reason is because they used to be trained to hunt small animals.
My aunt breeds chihuaua's. They've all got attitudes.
She cou;d have mood swings
I have a chihuahua of my own and all i can say is..

females have mood swings regularly. get used to it my friend..

but what you can do is make sure you are the alpha/leader in the household. she mgiht think shes the alpha.. and thats why she treats you like that when she doesnt want it. better get her into obedience classes!
