Cocker spaniel question
I have a female cocker spaniel that my sister had given me but she appears to either be pregnant or already had puppies. Her nipples are a bit swollen and her 'parts' are swollen as well. She threw up this morning according to my mother. I dont know if shes pregnant or if shes done had pups. Any way to determine this?
Answers:Get her to a vet for an exam and have a spay date scheduled!!
if she had pups she would be around watching them and protecting them
Being swollen could just mean that she's coming into heat or having a fake pregnancy (I have a dog that does this all the time). If there is no milk coming out, you're safe. And throwing up doesn't indicate one way or the other, especially if she's acting normally other than that. I would take her to the vet though, just to make sure!
Hi not without seeing the dog no.a vet can do an ultra sound but the is costly.have you not asked if she's ever had puppies?
Being sick doesn't constitute to the dog being pregnant so that is nothing to go by.
Time will tell as to if she is or not but if I was you I would be asking my sister a whole lot of questions surrounding this dog & if it was possible for her to be pregnant.
Regards Jake
If she is swollen she if probably in heat. Set up a vet appointment if you have no breading intentions also to make sure there is nothing wrong with her throwing up can be a # of things some life threatening.
Sounds like she could be pregnant! More than likely, if she had pups, her nipples would be sagging due to nursing. Not just swollen.
Ask your sister? Hmmm, perhaps your sister didn't want to help raise a litter of pups and handed her off to you :)
She is probably pregnant. If she just was in heat, then deffinatly. Try to look at her closly for a couple of weeks and you should see her bulging from the babies. Her nipples are swelling up with milk, and her"parts" are swollen from when she was in heat.
If she had just had puppies she would be dripping with milk.
