Only slightly longer than a box of matches, Danka has been classified the world's smallest dog in terms of length by the Guinness Book of World Records.

The dog has become Slovakia's biggest celebrity after being awarded the title.

According to Guinness, Danka is the smallest canine in the world, measuring just over 18 centimeters, or 7 inches, in length.

The long-haired chihuahua weighs just 27 ounces and eats only 2.5 ounces of dog food a day.

And while there may be dogs that are lighter, the book of records claim the dog qualified based on length.

The dog's full name is Danka Kordak Slovakia.

The world's smallest dog living in terms of height is Whitney, a Yorkshire terrier who measured 3 inches to the shoulder on November 26, 2002.
