Convincing my mom to let me get a dog2007-11-25 3:00:25

Ok, im 16 years old, and i want a dog. Conviently, a friends dog just had puppies and I could get one. How can I convince my parents to let me?

Well dogs are very hard to take care of. But you can remind youself of the bad things and good. Iam getting a cat myself and convinced my mom by knowing a lot about them by reading all the information I can. Coming up with a reasonable price. Plus my mom is allergic and she still wants to try this cat out so I know your parents would try to let you have one. Ask them to let you try and if you do a poor job tell them you can sell it. You also have to prove you are very responsible. I'm not but my mom and dad are both still agreeing that I can get one. I even asked my mom if I asked my mom about a dog she still said yes because she likes dogs but still try to tell them the good and bad things first. Tell them how much it is a year.Or try out a smaller pet then try to go up to a dog

Honey, I know you WANT a dog. But they are a BIG responsibility. Are you willing to have to wake up every 2 hours all night to let the puppy go outside and still go to class in the morning? Are you financially able to pay for shots, sterilization, heartworm prevention, flea and tick control, and have $1000 in the bank in case there is an emergency with it? If your parents want to get a dog to add to the family, that is one thing. But it seems like it is just you wanting it. I think you should wait until you can provide adequate care for the dog. Love isn't enough. Compassion isn't enough. You need money to take care of a dog. Who is going to walk the puppy, feed the puppy, and play with the puppy while you are at school, games, hanging with friends, etc?

Wait until you are an adult to take on all that responsibility.
