Corgi Puppies
Okay, I was thinking about getting a Corgi puppy, and found a person. Before I ask her what the price range is, what is the usual price for a corgi puppy? Not purebred. But thank you for your answers.
Answers:Okay you are talking a part-corgi and something else. Not purebred, not registered, not a memeber of the breed - it is ac ross-bred mix.
A reasonable price for a NON-purebred, NON-pedigreeed dog would be about $25-75 plus the cost of the puppy's inital shots and worming. Say $75-150.
It isn't as if this person with the puppy:
(1) made careful study of the corgi breed and what traits -physical and mental - make a good corgi
(2) spent the time and money and effort to acquire dogs who are superior examples of their breed, and spend the time and money to prove the dogs were superior examples of the breed by shoiwng them to justify breeding the next generation
(3) spent the time and money - lots of money - to have their dogs screened for hereditary health conditions. This is not a checkup by the vet but lots of xrays and tests to see if the dog has a condition which can be passed on but the dog isn't yet showing sypmtoms of the problem. In corgis, a biggy that is well over 25% of them - is hip dysplaisa. These test aren't cheap - figure $500-750 for EACH parent.
(4) give a guarantee against hereditary health problems (and probably didn't even do the intial shots and worming for the puppy or give the mother really good care through the pregnancy)
