Did the change in food cause my puppy indigestion
I got my 7 week old pit bull puppy last thrusday 'n his "poop" looked normal. The breeder told me he was feeding him IAMS Large Breed puppy dryfood. The type of food I had in my house was Royal Canin Large Breed Puppy, and that's the type of dry food that he started eating that same night I brought him home with me. The next day I noticed that he had diarrhea, it's been about 4 days, and he contiunes having some type of diarrhea. By the way, he seems to love Royal Canin dry food, but that's the only side effect that he has. Also, after he "poops" he tried to wipe himself by sliding his behind on the floor; i'm not really sure if it's the indegestion or something else.
Answers:Try the food he was on if this doesnt help go to the vet. Try it for about a week or so. Then if it still doesnt work go to the vet just to be safe. P.S. Dog Tip: Never give a dog chocolate it can KILL them.
Switching a dog's diet all of a sudden usually results in diarrhea. If you want to change food, you need to wean it off of it slowly.
You should switch back to Iams. Your dog will eventually get used to the new food but it is a lower quality food and not as good for your dog. I have 2 pits and I feed them homemade food because manufactured dog food is full of some really nasty stuff. Roadkill, dead zoo animals, dead dogs and cats from shelters.
the cheaper the food the worse the ingrediants.
I have heard.HEARD.the key word here.but him scooting on his rear end is not a good thing and I think a lot of people think that it is so cute that they are wiping their behinds.but check with the vet.don't think it is good.
it's giving him diarrhea, and he may have a case of worms, they can easily be treated with worm meds from walmart or the vet, the reason I said worms is because my dog had worms and it makes their butt itch when they use the bathroom.
I guess the breeder did not tell you to mix the old dog food with the new one for about a week.
