Diet for staffordshire pups2007-11-25 3:00:34Answers:

Hi,

I always wean my pups over from what the breeder had been feeding to burns mini bites puppy complete.

www.burns-pet-nutrition.co.uk

We feed 4 times a day till 12 weeks

12 weeks till 6months 3 times a day

6-12 months twice a day

It is a little more expensive than other foods but is a good quality food.

ask your vet!
Just use pegdigree chum puppy complete thats what my staff pup has.

The breeder mentioned scrambled egg wiv milk buit the vet told me to use puppy complete as there made to suite there diets plus you can imagine the smell a puppy on eggs!

Same diet as for any pups. To get a more accurate answer, how old are the pups? an 8 weeks old pups needs will be different to a 12 months old pup.

Has nobody ever showed you how to formulate a question?

it depends on hw old they are? if they are young and just weaning then i wlg suggest weetabix and milk, when they have weaned try scrambled egg with cheese then on to the puppy food, if you have bought the puppy then ask your breeder what they feed them.
It depends how old they are. If they are quite young then they need little and often feeding. Is the mother still feeding them? depending on how many puppies there are and how big they are you can start weaning them from about 4 weeks old but if you introduce mashed puppy food they can take it from whenever they are interested. You shouldn't just suddenly stop them feeding on their mum as it can be detrimental to her and feeding them too long on the mum can also cause serious problems. People recommending weetabix, milk etc are wrong they can't digest cow milk and there has been studies that show early feeding of milk and cheese mabe the reason why some dogs get allergies as adult dogs. Eggs are quite binding and can cause constipation so again shouldn't be fed. Any balanced puppy food is suitable whether its from the vets or the supermarket, you just shouldn't change diets too quickly.
when i got my staffie pup he was already on purina puppy complete dog food mixed with any good quality high protien puppy meat tinned or pouches what ever u can afford really i also give him tinned sardines or tuna a few times a week get the ones in oil not brine drain off the excess oil so it doesnt make the food too greasy as that can cause runny poos but some oil is really good for their coats hes now a year old and a real good looking dog
