Do siberian huskys shed a lot if you keep there hair short2007-11-25 3:01:12

he gets brushed regularly but it doesnt prevent it. He doesnt step into our bathroom but some how his hair is constantly there. My car gets vaccumed constantly as well. its just a charateristic about the breed that needs to be considered prior to purchase.

I'd leave your husky's hair and just keep up a routine of brushing, vaccuming to stop it looking so bad. Good Luck, its a full time job though!!

Yes, they will still shed. If you can't deal with hair, don't get a husky. They were not meant to be shaved!! This will upset the blance of the oils in their skin. It is not healthy for them.
yes they do because they are so fluffy they need to keep sheding so that the new hair can come what you can do is brush your dog and it helps with thier sheding
As stated in the first answer, DON'T shave your husky! Please!! Huskies were meant to have thick fur, and if you shave it you will ruin their beautiful coat! The common myth is that if you shave your husky, they will stay cooler in the summer and shed less in the winter. This is absolutely not true. Believe it or not, a Husky's thick coat is meant to keep the warmth in during the winter and the coolness in during the summer. Their coat actually helps keep them cool by trapping the cooler air under the undercoat and up against their skin. They will still shed regardless, but you will have a harder time cleaning up the hair because it is shorter and will come off in little pieces at a time rather than in clumps.
