Do you believe there should be breed banning in dogs If so why and if not why2007-11-25 3:01:16

There is much controversy over pit bulls, and other more aggressive dogs, that have maimed or killed people. Should we ban them completely by not letting owners breed these type of breeds? I do not mean exterminating the existing dogs, just required sterlization of such breeds. Your opinion and why.

I do not belive in any breed ban but I do belive in owners being responsible for their pets.I belive there should be strict laws and guidelines to be followed and enforced for owners of any breed.leash laws,tags ect.then for any dog that has a history of aggression they should have to be spayed/neutered and kept under control at all times..I dont mean a specific breed I mean ANY dog that has bitten a person or animal..if we allow breed bans to continue NO breed will be safe..eventually they will ban all dogs because any breed has the ability to bite.there are ways to control these attacks without banning every dog because of its breed.I have had pits all my life and have done pit rescue for 6 years.we had a 3 legged pit that was a certified therapy dog.he lost his leg due to abuse(he was a rescue)he put smiles on faces of children at hospitals and schools.what if he'd never been given this chance?punish the deed not the breed !!

no. it's the raising of these that's the matter. the dogs acquire most knowledge when they are still drinking milk, and shortly after weaning. in puppy mills and such, they are exposed to bad conditions, with the possible abuse from humans. of course, some individuals might be aggressive due to breeding, and that's the main thing. the breeding of aggressive animals(used for cockfights, dog fights) and puppy mills should be banned, not the animals.

Just seems that Pitbulls have the temper. The other guard dogs are more relaxed but more judgemental than the average hound dog.
