My brothers dog only has but 1 testical. He is wondering why, is he deformed or something?
Answers:it is called cryptorchid. He as 2, one just didn't descend. It may be in his abdomen. He needs to be neutered. Cryptorchid males tend to have higher chances of getting testicular cancer when they get older.
mayb he had cancer
it could be a deformation. only a vet can answer you.
well maybe he was just born that way im sure some people were born with just one testicle.. but he should be neutered just in case some problems develope or somthign
This usually means that the other testical has not desended. This should be looked at by a vet. It can create problems.
thats..interesting.. probably had it removed earlier in life or a deformity of some sort
No- that's normal in some dogs. However, it can cause cancer, so you should get him neutered.
Hi I had a GSD that only had one testicle. The name for that is monorchid (spelling?) It is caused by one testicle not dropping down. They recommended that I have him neutered and I did and he didn't have any problems after that. Unless your brother plans to breed him, I would suggest he have the dog neutered as soon as possible.
Have your vet check for a hernia. It's not uncommon among males of any mammalian species to have only one testicle drop. It's not a big deal unless he is on the show circuit but it should be addressed as it could cause problems down the road which can be fixed with a very simple operation.
