I certainly don't. What's wrong with people.?? These stories about animal cruelty disgust me beyond words. The punishment these ppl receive does NOT fit the crime. The man that put his wife's lil' puppy in an oven causing permanet damage to its' lil paws got 6 months ..that's it. this after attacking the dog with a leaf blower and causing the dog's eye to be removed .I just can't stand it, we need to really make the punishments for these sick mean cruel crimes a lot stronger

In my state, Oregon, the penalties fit the crime..One person I know was fined $2500 plus 22 days in jail for shooting a dog with a pellet gun, even though no serous damage was done. Killing a dog demands $5000 and 5 years..

Nope, the penalties, in my opinion are NOT severe at all. In some states its only a misdemenor to kill an animal on purpose, yet they'll get life in prison for killing a human. Its messed up.

No way! For something as horrible as killing an animal people can still get off with a small fine and community service. That's not enough! We need more jail punishments so people are kinder to animals and take their actions more seriously.

I have to agree w/ you. The penalties for animal cruelty don't even come close to justice. It's so arcane to ignore the fact that these animals actually have feelings. Do they emote? YES! Do they have a sense of fear? YES! Does it infuriate me? Once again, a resounding YES! The only thing that I can think of is for people to actually get out and campaign for reform of these laws. They are far too often unenforced, and even when they are, the penalties are so minimal that it really becomes a joke.

NO. Of course the punishments are not severe enough. Cruelty to animals demands long prison terms. If he gets just a slap on the wrist, the guilty person might commit a similar crime against a human next time.

you're not kidding. i've been rescuing for over 30 years. quite frankly i'm tired of cleaning up other peoples stupidities. although i've met some of my best friends this way, they shouldn't have to endure what they did. and i can't rescue them all.

NO! I had my puter a few mos. when I discovered Dogster.com. It is really cool and I have my 2 dogs on there now with their own little web pages. Somehow, I started receiving info from the Humane Society. A lot of people on Dogster have adopted pets that were left homeless after Katrina. But the liturature I get from HS is pitiful. It breaks my heart. I am not rich by any means, get paid once a mo., but had been sending $5.00 a mo. to disabled vets. Now I send it to the HS. Personally, I think anyone that maims or in any way harms an innocent animal should receive the same treatment. Tit for tat!

I'm with you 100% and think if the punishment for cruelty to animals were stiffer,the poor animals may have better chances in life.All are God's creatures and deserve better treatment from abusers.I firmly believe in God's words ,it should be an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth,whatever crime you do to your victims ,the same should be done to you.

Absolutely not.here in the UK the fines/punishments are laughable, so much so that it makes a mockery of what the police and the RSPCA* have had to do to catch these people. In the past couple of weeks in the area that I live in, there have been three cases of extreme, sickening and sadistic, animal cruelty highlighted in the local paper.I will not say what, as some idiots using this site could well go out and copy what has been done. Suffice to say that the punishments certainly do not fit the crime and if it were up to me, I would have the same thing done to those involved as by committing those crimes, they have given up all rights to be treated as a human being.
