Used properly they are a very effective training tool for certain type of behavior. You can correct the dog or move his attention from one thing to another with out ever touching him. It is great for excess barking and great for training hunting dogs.

I use them and I would not train for certain things any other way.

They allow you to corrcet the dog with out touching them so you can correct a behavior from 100 yards away. Also you are not hitting or verbally getting after the dog. The action caused a shock. They do not associate it with you.

They are great to curb chasing behavior.

I placed one on my own arm before I ever used it on the dog.

It doesn ot really hurt but it sure gets your attention RIGHT NOW.

And that is what you are really trying to do when training is change the focus of the dog at that present moment.

I do not see it a lazy or an easy way to train a dog. Even with the collar you are going to be putting in time and work with the dog.

Before you put it on a dog.why don't you put it on yourself and see how that goes. It is WRONG to abuse a dog.

yeah I think its wrong. Its for dog owners that are to lazy to actually take the time and energy to train there dogs the right way.

I do believe there are other safer and less cruel ways to deal with an unruly dog. The trick is to train the owner and the dog at the same time. (I am assuming you ARE referring to a dog). Dogs, like children, bark and act up for attention. Seek out alternates first before subjecting your animal to a cruel punishment.

i agree with putting it on yourself first. if it hurts you, it will hurt your dog. if it only irritates you, it will only irritate your dog.
