Dog licks metal barstools2007-11-25 3:00:59

Our lab mix likes to lick the legs of our metal barstools. Does anyone else have a dog that does anything similar to this? Any ideas as to why she does this?

I don't know, my yellow LabX like to do the same thing. I guess they just like the coolness of the metal, she likes to lick anything that is metal (table legs, hammer, screwdriver, pop cans)

my cat does that to my the bottom of my metal lamp! i think they just like the feeling of it on their tongue.

Dogs seem to like cold things. The metal probably feels cool on her tongue. (My dog loves to lick cold spoons--especially ones with ice cream on them, of course!) Also, there may be a metallic taste that the dog is curious about. Unless there is some kind of paint on the metal, there shouldn't be anything to worry about.

yes, my dog chews on the my kitchen wooded chair, i found out that she chewed and licked it because they're was dropping on food! try cleaning the stool, it could also be that your dog is licking because of the smell!

my dog likes licking my pillow since it is always cold/cool. i think they like licking it since it is and cool feeling on their tounge.

My dog licks windows and the refridgerator. I dont know why myself. Just thought youd like to know. Shes a pitbull by the way.
