:( Fleas, and I think theyre from the yard or upstairs Our neighbor says her kitten has fleas2007-11-25 2:57:54

I have a 7 month old Shitzu/Cava and we have just moved into a new home about one month ago. He is a house dog and only goes outside for walks and to go potty. Last week I took him to get groomed and the groomer said he has fleas on his belly. She also said when she gave him a bath she didn't see any jump and didn't notice until she started to groom him and then seen he had 2 or 3 on his belly. She said I didn't have to worry about the house being infested because it didn't seem like it could be a problem. So I got a 3&1 shampoo to kill and it worked. Then I seen 2 fleas on him again so I gave him another bath and decided from now on to let him go through the front door and guess what? We have them again! I've been paying very much close attention to him and if I see any fleas jumping on our house, bed, etc. But I don't see any jumping or having them bite us and only see fleas on him. My upstair neighbor's cat has fleas, she says. Can it travel? Our front door is also attached to hers.

Answers:

Tell them that they need to do something about the problem or you will be force to take action into your own hand

check out homeremedy.com for information to rid of them

yes they travel by warm living environments regardless of the contact source

may need someone to come and spray also to prevent further infestations

keep close eye on that little friend for can certainly make them miserable with the biting and itching

yeah, fleas can for sure travel. try using a medication like frontline or advantix to get rid of the fleas b/c it lasts longer than shampoo and is far easier/less time consuming to give than to give a bath! you should also try washing your carpet, bedding, anywhere where your dog has been b/c fleas can live by themselves (they don't need your dog to stay alive), and you can kill them when you clean stuff out.
