It sounds to me like he might be feeling his age and having aches and pains. You are lucky to have him so long, mine died of heart trouble at age 10. Treasure him.

old animals can get senile. They can become confused and disoriented. esp if they are loosing their sight and hearing. It would be worth it to take him to the vet to make sure hes ok and see if they have suggestions to care for him, make him ore comfortable or med to help if hes developing a condition.

Does he get any arthritis medicine? if not, that might help him. Arthritis might be why he didn't want you laying next to him or going on a bouncy bed.

If you can't afford a vet visit, probably the best otc vitamin (available at petco) is called PetTabs. The senior formula has arthritis medicine in it.

When I was a kid, my family had a poodle mix who lived to be almost 20 years old. My parents adopted her two years before I was born, and she lived until I was 18. During her last couple of years, she acted pretty weird too - including the occasional bite. The problem was that she had lost almost all of her hearing, and so if she couldn't see you approach touching her startled her. She also had cataracts in one eye. Not being able to see or hear well was scary for her. Take your dog to the vet for a good checkup, and ask the vet to be sure to check his eyes and ears. As I'm sure you know, your dog is quite elderly. Do what you can to make him comfortable - it's won't hurt to spoil him now.
