My dog is panting non stop What could be wrong2007-11-25 2:11:43

About 3 days ago, my mix breed dog started panting non stop for hours.

i took her to the vet, they checked her lungs, heart, stomach etc and found nothing wrong with her. yet at night, she still pants so much!! what could it be?

i would call the vet back. if the dog is not hot or stressed continous panting is a sign of pain of some sort. you need to let your vet know this is still going on. glad you took the dog there to start with! could something have happened at night that you didn't know of that could be stressing the dog out? if you don't think so you really need to contact your vet and let them know she's still not acting right. good luck.

HOT? is it an indoor or outdoor pet? the weather is very hot these days but if they chk the dog & it's fine then prob nothing serious,you didnt say weather or not your dog is long hair or short hair mix breed?

Mines has been doing this too latley since I moce to charlotte(104 degrees this week) and he seems dehydrated a little bit, so i been giving him gatoraide mix in half with water, since dogs systems are vey similar to humans this may be the case for you dog to is he drinking enough water?

try a clear colored gatoraide watered down with water & ice see if the panting stops, you could also keep dog inside with a/c maybe try an ice pack in his bed wrap in a pillow case to cool him down quickly
