What would be the best time to get a puppy/dog neutered? Thanks!

It can be done as early as 8 weeks. Shelters routinely spay and neuter before adoption at that age as long as the puppy is healthy and normal weight. Before 6 months is ideal. But it can be done at any age.

It depends on how big it is . Has his testicles dropped if so now would be perfect.

Many people who specialize in specific breeds say that larger dogs should have a little more time to mature before they're snipped. My dog is 20 lbs and he was neutered at 8 weeks, and he's not "deformed" of course. But for a larger, 40-lb or more-type of dog, I hear that it's best to wait a little longer. Remember to be responsible - don't let him run about. Keep him on a long line (which, of course, you're doing anyway to work on the bond that you have with your dog and his recall too, right?)

Usually neutering can be done at 6 months. If you don't know the specific age of the dog then make sure it has all of it's adult teeth or make sure they're starting to come in. Your Vet can also tell you the best time to get it done.
