Newfoundlands with "dry mouth"
I have a wonderful newfoundland that we just love. She drools alot, but I thought all newfoundlands drooled. I met a breeder that says he breeds "dry mouth newfoundlands and landseers". Is there such a thing as a dry mouth newfy? I saw his three dogs, and they looked healthy from what little I could tell. I was just wondering if dry mouth was possible.
Answers:What he's saying is that his dogs are not as jowly. The newfie I had also didn't drool (unless it was really hot) and he had a gorgeous head - didn't have the flews that some newfies have - a head that's more like a saint bernards. Did you take a close look at his dogs' heads? I'm sure you'll be seeing his dogs have tighter flews, hence they don't have the "pockets" that hold all that saliva.
