We are getting a yorkshire terrier puppie when she is 6 weeks old2007-11-25 2:50:10

should i take her to the vets for a check up asap,and what age should she start her injections?

I would take her to the vet as soon as the puppy is in your arms. You don't know what the puppy could have already been exposed to. Injections start early I believe at 8 weeks but don't quote me on it I haven't had a puppy in 7 years. But the vet is the best idea asap.

Wow, 6 weeks is about 2 weeks shy of normal. I've owned 2 now, my current Yorkie is almost 6 years old.

I'd call the vet and tell him/her the age of the pup, you might even schedule an appointment for him to check it, he may suggest you start shots now.

She should not leave her mother and siblings until she is at least 10 weeks old. Even though she may be weaned from nursing on her mother, the mamadog will teach her many important social skills that will prevent problems like playbiting, nipping, and separation anxiety later on.

I think you should question any breeder who would think it's OK to let a puppy go at so very young an age. He/she certainly doesn't have the puppy's welfare as a priority.

More than likely, he's just trying to maximize profit by saving money on shots.
