We just got a pit/rott puppy how do you train him2007-11-25 2:50:17

i have always had rottweilers and i know how to train them but we just got a puppy that is half pit bull half rottweiler and everyone is telling me that he'll be really mean unless you train him right. i have know idea what to expect with a pit bull. is there a specific way to train them to be nice?

Socialize this dog you have to very strong breeds mixed both wonderful breeds I might add but both very territorial and dominant show him or her your the boss otherwise you will loose control.The pit bull is a very easy dog to train very obedient do not tie this dog or confine him and do not beat this dog if you are cruel to the pit in return you get a dog that you will not be able to handle.Show this dog alot of love and attention and you will never ask for a better dog.

Just love em up. I have a pit and she is my baby..lover of people (even strangers) the more socialization, attention, and affection you give the dog the better of they will be. Welcome to having one of the best breeds around.

why do they assume he is going to be mean just raise him to be social let it interact with other animals and he should be fine (do not physically punish dog for misbehaving also do not play games like tug of war)

Just do the best you can. I have a Rott & she was raised with Pitts. She was easy to train, but every now and then will slip. But hey people aren't perfect either
