We just moved to a new house with our 2 labs Can someone help me with the pros and cons of invisible2007-11-25 2:50:18Answers:

i have an invisable radio fence and five dogs.

the pros

- the property looks better

-they can not jump over dig under it.

-they cant get out if someone accidently leaves a gate open

-you can use it to keep them out of non-dog areas of the same yard, flower beds, ponds

the cons

-some dogs dont care if they get shocked

-once they do go over the boundry they are afraid to go back because of the shock zone

-some dogs are so afraid of getting shocked they cant be on an electric fence.

-neighbors are not always smart enough to read the signs and are terrified the dogs will chase them

-dogs offleash can get onto our property and hurt our dogs

-some dogs know when the battery runs out and will "test the perimeter"

when it snows really hard, my fence is comprimised, which is ok because it still works, but the unit beeps and it scares the dogs because the beep is the same as the warning beep at the perimeter

my rottweiler is terrified of it and we have to tie her out on the patio so she gets less excersize then the rest

the worst thing is when i walk them i take them off the collar, i have to walk across the street imediatly or i get pulled there, because they are paranoid about the perimeter line, so they will bolt into the street to stay away from it on the other side.

my favorite thing is that i can have a garden, my bonsai and a pond all without fencing to break up the visual feild and the dogs cant damage anything

The pros are that with training many dogs learn to respect the fence and you do not have to pay to put up chain link. Or have the look of the fence.
