Any dog with curly/kinky hair (poodle, bichon)... they don't shed and don't cause an allergic reaction (or cause less of an allergic reaction) if you have dander allergies.

The kinds of dogs that dig the most tend to be rodent hunters--daschunds, terriers, etc.

It's based on their genetic code, which differs from breed to breed. Shepherds shed all the time, schnauzers don't shed- purely based on breed. As for digging, again, it's more 'hot wired' into some breeds than others. For instance, some terriers will dug up your yard quickly- it's just ingrained in them to do so (bred to hunt rodents).

Many dogs dig.. this should be corrected with early obedience training in puppy hood.

Poodle breeds would probably be a good option for you, such as toy, standard, or even goldiepoo's.

Airedales aren't much on shedding, if you're looking for a large dog. My brother has a Shiloh Shepherd (a breed with long hair that sheds nightmareishly), but he keeps his coat groomed to a buzz cut (very, very short) and he doesn't leave much furr on the furniture at all=) My Dobie girl hardly sheds.

Go to the pound and look for something with a short, glossy coat.

I have a Lhasa Apso and a Shih Tzu. Neither one leave any hair at all in my house. Both are great little dogs!
