What are some no fur dogs that stay small2007-11-25 2:51:03

ok. i have a dog and she is ADORABLE! she is actually barking at me right now. haha but anyway. my dad is thinking that maybe we could get a puppy but he is alergic to dogs with fur. so if anyone knows some cute puppies with hair please tell me! thanksss

Answers:

Look up the various breeds you would like and see about their coat. Duke, a Yorkshire Terrier, is a single-coated pup that does not shed (seriously!). But, often people are allergic to the dander, not the actual hair. So, while the Yorkie is recommended for allergy sufferers, the effect the dog will have is usually not known until well, you put the dog and say, your Dad, together and see. My other dog, Sugar, is a double-coated Lhasa Apso and she sheds a lot. So... anyway, I'd just tell you Dad to take some Benadryl and get the pup you want. ;)

Chinesse crested is the only one I know of that has no hair

Dogs Considered Good For

Allergy Sufferers

Please note: One person's allergies may vary greatly from another person's. It is always wise to visit the dog to see if you are allergic to it before you bring it home.

The Bichon Frise has hair, no fur. It doesn't shed. Only reaches 8 inches high. Very active & fun.
Stuffed animals are good.
The Shih Tzu has hair, not fur. Therefore they are considered a dog that one could have if they have allergies. They are a non allergic dog. I have terrible allergies, but none with my shih tuz. My dog weighs 10 lbs but some get to be 18 lbs, so if you want a very smal dog you will have to look for someone who has smaller dogs. Shih Tzus are wonderful, and so very cute!
Actually, you can get a yorkie. They are very small and have hair, however they are hypo-allergenic. Along with schnauzers, poodles, puffed chinese crested's.
There is the American Hairless Terrier, Chinese Crested, Hairless Khala, Peruvian Inca Orchid, Xoloitzcuintle. The most common hairless dogs are the Chinese Crested and the American Hairless Terrier. The Chinese Crested has a little hair on its head and paws and tail but they are really cute hairless dogs.
Please look into a ShihTzu they are sweet little dogs and all they want is to be loved and love their people back. their hair is beautiful and they do not shed alot.
Maltese and poodles are hypo allergeric. Which means it has human hair and they don't shed. I have a Maltese and she my lil baby. There are some hairless Chihuahuas but not as cute.

Poodles are the most commonly cited, as far as I've noticed. Here's a list I found, which includes dogs that are "naked" as well as dogs whose fur is more like human hair. I have taken away the breeds who grow to over 30 lbs, so it will stay small, as it were. MAKE SURE that you do an allergy test and otherwise carefully choose your new dog so that your dad is able to love the dog without suffering. Other dogs - especially those with long hair, can be shaved to minimize shedding and dander (I do that with my Shepherd/Retriever mix). Especially with the hybrids, there is no guarantee that their fur will be fine for your dad. Some dogs get the gene, others don't. Another warning about the hybrids - check to see if a parent is a Miniature Poodle, Toy/Teacup Poodle, or a Standard Poodle. Standards are medium/big dogs.
