They are not protected against other animals which may come freely into the yard.

They work marginally at best.

Also some studies show that it may make the animal more aggressive.

It depends on the dog. If you have a very large dog, the shock isn't going to cause much discomfort. He'll quickly learn that a small shock is all that stands between him and freedom, and he'll charge right through, take the shock and keep going!

It may work better with smaller dogs, but then again, if a child wanders into your yard and your dog bites him or her, it's still your fault.

I raise Redbones and I don;t need a fence of that nature. MY Redbones are disciplined and I can call them off a tree if I must from the road side.

Personally I think they should ban electric fence for dogs or any animal for that matter.
