What are the regulations on taking pupies abroad without returning back to UK2007-11-25 2:50:34

I'm looking to take 2 jack russell pupies to Lithuania in mid June, which is a request of my nephew and nease. I've heard that passports are required and puppies would have to be placed in quarantine for six months before leaving UK. is this true? a brief procedure waiting for me would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Your puppies would not need to go into quarantine if they are leaving the UK, but they would need Rabies vaccinations & to be microchipped. There is also the 3 week rule re: vaccinations to be considered.

What you need to do is check on the web or contact the Lithuanian consulate or embassy and see what their regulations are for importation of animals. I know the U.S. regs for bringing animals into the country and those for bringing animals into the UK, but since the importation is to Lithuania, their rules apply.

You need to check on the import regulations of Lithuania. For the puppies to travel from the UK the customs ahve to be satisfied their travel arrangements are satisfactory so if they are in a cage it must meet DEfras guidelines. Apart from that I don;t think there are any regulations about leaving the country it is bringing them back in that presents the problem.
