What are your bad experiences with Banfield Vet Clinics
I wanted to know if what experiences others have had because I am OVER that clinic. We have three pets signed up and on the 1st time we needed to see a Vet for a bad earache in one of our dogs, the Vet did not show up and the next day was a holiday. We had to wait TWO EXTRA DAYS to get in. When we did, after FIVE HOURS, and no treatment, they went on to see walk in wellness pts. STILL no treatment. They were very rude, the Vet made a rude comment hrs before this and the dog still was not seen so we picked her up and paid out of pocket to see another Vet outside Banfield. THEN we tried to transfer to another store but they wanted to charge us another months payment to transfer within their system! This was contrary to what we had been told. The only way out is to pay an exobitant amount of bloated charges for services rendered. I wouldn't recommend this clinic TO ANYONE.

I wouldn't recommend this clinic to anyone either. Not necessarily because their vets aren't qualified enough or are rude (that may well have just been your experience) but because their vets are not given the freedom to treat animals as they deem necessary. Banfield (and other chain clinics) is sort of like an HMO...their vets are only allowed to give the treatments that they have approved and only under the certain circumstances that have been approved. This is not in the animals' best interests but rather to keep costs down (and profits up). An independent veterinary clinic is ALWAYS a better option than a big chain clinic.
I went once and I think they are outrageuosly priced for starters. So I won't go back
I wonder if it's just that you happen to get a crummy Banfield and not that every Banfield sucks because the Banfield I take my dog to is great. They have been extremely helpful and have always taken great care of my dog who is sensitive to everything and is always at the vet. If I have any questions or concerns, no matter what it is they tell me to bring her in and I never wait more than 10 min. There are 2 vets that work there and they are both the nicest people who enjoy working with animals. Now hearing your stories, I'm glad I got a good one. I've actually had some not so good experiences with private vets... so it can go either way.
I had my sweet kitty spayed there, and they botched the job!! She had to go in every day for a week so they could re-open the stitches and clean her out. It has been 4 years and she still attacks anyone who touches her tummy... It's so sad bc she loves to be petted.
