What can I do to convince hubby not to get rid of our dog2007-11-25 2:50:41

My husband is sick of our dog because he can't behave. Doggy has its own yard, house and trips to the paw ground every day. He barks at everything that moves without stopping, for days if necessary lol. He scent marks everywhere we go, growls at us etc.

I understand my hubby very well. This dog really is a pain in the b*** just any given day. Still, I feel for the little guy and we've been having him for 5 years now.

It's not like we didn't show who is the boss. Doggy doesn't care.

Bring a behavior specialist into your home. I tried obedience school but like your dog my dog listened when he wanted to. The Behavior Specialist did miracles, and one of things you learn quickly it is not the dog it is usually the people. There are so many things loving owners do without meaning to do or neglect to do. I have done dog rescue for years and one of the saddest things was great dogs losing homes because of unwanted behavior. After training and some work all the dogs turned out to be excellent family dogs. There was not one that never made it but it took people to make the difference. Give it one more shot, and really consider the behavior specialist.

Maybe you should try training your dog. Then, your husband may feel better with him.

Tell him the bond that you share with the dog and if he throws it out, then he will also be throwing out a part of you. By throwing out, i mean getting rid of at a shelter or something.

he needs to be neutered. that'll stop the spraying. take him to obedience training. it doesn't seem like he's been trained at all. i doubt he barks for days on end. use a spray bottle and show him who's boss, WITHOUT hitting him.

This dog may have his own yard, house and trips to a park every day, but he's apparently not had any training. Obedience train his dog and get his neutered so he doesn't mark everywhere he goes. If you've had this dog for 5 years, why in the world is he still being allowed to get away with growling at you?
